May 12 KOBLENZ
When we woke up in Amsterdam, we got on to the bus to head to Germany, specifically Koblenz in the Rhine Valley. Germany is beautiful and very green. We saw a few castles from the middle ages on our way. The time on the bus passes pretty quickly because I usually sleep or observe the landscape. We got to our hotel just in time to throw our bags down and eat dinner. We had pork and some sort of noodle (Schpetzel?)… Not my favorite, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t eat it… We eat SO much on this trip, but it’s hard not to because I want to try the food native to each country, especially after taking my cultural foods class at the University. Anyhow, then we walked around outside to take in the scenery. We walked up to a castle that is now a hotel, it was a very beautiful walk at night, the sun doesn’t set until around ten here... very cool! Then we went to bed, for an early night, finally!
When we woke up the next morning, my sister and I headed to the local shops determined to find some authentic Birkenstock sandals. We ended buying the same ones, just in different colors. I let my sister choose what she wanted first since this was all mainly her idea. She chose brown, so I then chose black. Some of our friends also got Birkenstocks of differing styles. The photo below shows them.
